OPENING | Nam Sandwich - a new bao & Vietnamese sandwich shop near Trinity Bellwoods

There's a new Vietnamese sandwich shop in the city, located just West of Trinity Bellwoods Park on West Queen West. Last weekend, I was invited to the new Nam Sandwich Shop to get a bite of some of their delicious offerings. The space is very clean and open for a small restaurant that seats 20. With the main counter to order/pick up food in the middle and a straight forward chalkboard menu on the right, Nam Sandwich strives to provide efficient service for their diners. The large communal table in the middle can cater to groups while the window seats & bars allow singles to stop by for a quick bite. The exposed brick wall gives this otherwise modern space some character of the West of Queen West neighbourhood! With 6 Vietnamese sandwich, 2 Baos and 3 Roll choices, it's easy to want to order everything. Nothing is over $6 price wise, so it's pretty affordable compared to other eateries nearby. Thai Iced Tea ($3.00) Pork Belly Bao ($4.00) - cucumber, scallion & hois...

LAUNCH | Bounce Off - game night with Mattel Game On at Snakes & Lager

When Clara and I get together with our friends, we love playing games: board games, charades, you name it! There's something so fun and appealing about board games especially that can keep everyone entertained and having a good time. Last week, we were invited for a game night at the Snakes & Lagers location on College and Bathurst to celebrate a launch of Mattel Game On's newest addition, Bounce Off! There's no better place to do this than Toronto's most popular board game cafe & bar. Mattel Game On's popular games include: Apples to Apples, Uno, Mad Gab, Balderdash, Phase 10, Rock'em Sock'em (old school fave), Pictionary (my all time favourite game of choice) and the list goes on.  The Mattel girls put us in groups to experience some of their most popular games placed throughout the bar, while enjoying some delicious snacks as well!    We first played at the Apples to Apples station.  Despite the fact that it was my first time playing (with stran...

EVENT | Celebrating National Tequila Day at Milagro Cantina's patio in Queen West

On National Tequila Day, it's only natural that you head to a patio to soak up the sun with Tequila cocktails in hand, or if you had a real bad day at work, shots.  That's exactly what I did - went to the gorgeous patio party at Milagro Cantina on Queen West.   It was pretty much a Mexican fiesta when I arrived with my guest. I'm not surprised that Milagro decided to throw a party for National Tequila Day because they have a large selection of Tequila as well as a carefully thought out Tequila tasting menu. The patio was bustling with festive music and  hungry/thirsty crowds of people and it wasn't long until we all had a delicious cocktail in hand. The space is pretty big and equipped with comfortably cushioned seats. Oh, can I just say that I loved the little decor of potted cactus on the tables!   The mixologist was definitely kept busy that day! EVENT | Taste of Toronto July 24 - 27 at Fort York - this summer's foodie event you don't want to miss!

It's finally here! I feel like we have been talking & writing about Taste of Toronto for months now, and after attending the opening night yesterday, I urge you, don't miss out! Celebrity chefs, demonstrations, wine tastings and most of all, the delicious food was very worthwhile. In fact, I'm going again on Saturday ;)  Once you validate your ticket at the front and enter through the gates, it's time to eat! The dishes offered at the restaurant booths go for 6, 8 or 10 'crowns'. Crowns are the official currency at Taste for you to buy food and 1 crown = $1 .  Just head on over to the Crown Stations to load up your ToT cards with crowns.  I recommend loading it up with around $25-30.  Any leftover crowns will be donated to the event's charity partner, Second Harvest. There's also a slew of food & drink vendors on site such as Momofuku Milkbar (got my crack pie), Ice Volcano Ice Cream, Greenhouse Juice Co., Baretta Family Farm & more! Metro is...
