REVIEW | King Street Social at Hyatt on King

Winterlicious is back for 2015! We're still unsure of where we'll be dining (need to make reservations ASAP) but after the menu tasting at King Street Social , a restaurant inside the Hyatt on King Street, we strongly encourage you guys to check them out for this year. Pan Roasted Ricotta and Baby Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breast  Just last night, we were invited to get a special preview of their Winterlicious as well as their Valentine's menu - of course we didn't hesitate to go! This was my first time dining at the Hyatt on King Street's restaurant, the King Street Social. Chef Wesley Boodhram explained that his team came up with the Asian-themed menu this year as they're all fans of fusion dishes and street food. We definitely saw a lot of those elements in all the dishes in terms of flavours and ingredients.  Tofu and Vegetable Steamed Wonton Soup served with a lemongrass & tamarind gremolata, tamarind & soy miso Red Oak and Aged Ontario’s Goat Cheese...

REVIEW | Città

Just 6 weeks ago, Città opened in the up-and-coming neighbourhood of CityPlace between Spadina Ave. and Bathurst St. on Fort York Blvd.  Nestled on the main floor of one of the many highrise buildings, this may just become the community's favourite brunch spot on the weekends or a lunch and dinner spot on weeknights! Stepping into the new Southern Italian restaurant, you'll be greeted by an energetic atmosphere that is open but inviting. There are two wood-fire pizza ovens behind the pastries counter where you'll drool over the bombolini, cannoli, biscotti and muffins that are freshly baked in-house daily.  Also, you'll love the floor-to-ceiling windows take up a good chunk of the entire restaurant that provide natural light during brunch hour!   Città  is headed by Executive Chef, Ben Heaton, known for his British pub grub at The Grove previously.  This time around, he's serving up casual and comforting Italian fare that I really enjoyed. Here's a photo recap ...

REVIEW | What to expect & indulge in at Destingo for Winterlicious 2015

My first visit to Destingo was during Winterlicious last year ( read review here ) and I can't forget the experience because I fell in love with their tiramisu. This year, this Italian restaurant is offering up a Winterlicious menu once again so if you haven't been, it's a great opportunity to see what Destingo has to offer in a 3-course meal. The interior of the restaurant as I mentioned in last year's post, is very open and spacious, rustic and  charming. It's a great spot to go for a date or with a group of people for a special occasion as they have a large room off the main dining area just for that. Location-wise, the restaurant is right on the corner of Queen Street West and Tecumseth Street. Here are the photos of Destingo's Winterlicious menu offerings that we tried at the launch: Destingo's signature house-made bread delicious start to the meal - the photo doesn't do this bread justice! REVIEW | Stoney Bread Company

Clara's been to the the original location of Stoney's Bread Company in Oakville many times, urging me to make a visit myself for their yummy menu offerings.  In this particular case, I didn't have to go all the way to Oakville because Stoney's opened a new location just 5 minutes from my place in Etobicoke! I have been a couple times already, both for their Sunday brunch service and I must say that I am quickly loving the new neighbourhood restaurant addition. Situated on The Queensway, just West of the Cineplex Theatres you will find Stoney's second restaurant. There is limited parking space that is usually full on Sundays so you can also park on the streets by the theatres or in the parking at the bank across the street. At Stoney's you are to order your food and drink, take a number and then wait to be seated if dining in the restaurant. Once your menu items are ready, the server will bring them to your table. From Sunday brunch, soups & salads, pizzas, ...
