GIVEAWAY | Win a $60 Gift Card to Henry's Rentals #RentTheGearOwnTheMoment

I enjoy taking photos, especially ones of food (you can tell by our Instagram) so when I do, I try to make it look as appetizing and of quality as possible. Sometime's it's hard to do that with my phone when I'm at events, so I have been in the market for a DSLR (still am). But before I commit myself to making that big purchase, I wanted to play around with one to make sure I choose the right one. That's when I learned of the rental service at Henry's Cameras - yup, you can rent from their large selection of DSLR cameras, lenses, camera accessories & more!

Henry's is one of Canada's top sources for the newest and best products staffing imaging experts and offering competitive pricing.  Not only that, Henry's School of Imaging offer new and skilled photography-enthusiasts a variety of classes - remember the Phone-O-Graphy class I attended?

For my recent trip to Boston, I wanted to take a DSLR that would allow me to take great cityscapes and landscapes as well as a zoom lens for food photography.  But, I couldn't just stake out $1,000 on a new camera when I just used that money on a trip. That's when I turned to Henry's Rentals list of available rental cameras! You can rent for a day, a weekend or a whole week at great prices.

Once I chose the product, the process was fast and easy. Fill out the form, submit and pick up the product during their office hours. Between the Nikon D750 and Canon EOS 6D, I went with the Nikon. I had fun shooting with the Nikon D750 (value: $155 for the weekend) but in the end, I realized it's not quite what I want. I'm still in the market for one, so perhaps I'll try a the Canon next!

Renting a camera or a lens is a great option for someone:
1) like me that just wanted to try a camera before committing to making a big purchase
2) a photographer that needs a specific lens for a project or an event
3) a photographer in need of a backup camera, lens or other photography equipment

If you're in the market for a camera, today's your lucky day...

RECIPE | Alokozay Tea - Cinnamon tea infused panna cotta

Matcha tea has been a long time favourite when making any type of dessert and now more recently, it's expanded to other teas such as Chai or Early Grey. We decided to try making a panna cotta using cinnamon tea from  Alokozay Tea.    If you're looking to buy it in a store, try the international food section in Metro, Bulk Barn, Food Basics, or Adonis. If all else fails, do what we did and order it directly from their website. The website is extremely easy to navigate and you can get free shipping if you spend $39 or more.  Customer service was amazing and replied to my emails within the same day! Click here to buy the tea online.  Panna Cotta is a pretty straight forward dessert to make but it never fails to impress at dinner parties where you can serve them in individual ramekins. Ingredients - 2 Alokozay cinnamon tea bags - 3/4 cup half and half cream -1/2 cup 2% milk - 2 tbsp sugar - 1 tsp gelatin -fruits of your choice  Method: 1. Mix the gelatin with ...

REVIEW | Patois - Get a little taste of everything on the menu with The Whole Shebang!

I'm down to try any restaurant that allows you to order the entire menu and Patois' Jamaican Chinese fusion menu definitely sealed the deal. It's certainly nice to have a restaurant that's open on a Monday and takes reservation in the Dundas St. West neighbourhood. Being able to make reservations makes life a whole lot easier even though the restaurant wasn't packed on a Monday night at 6 pm. Their reservation system even emails you to remind you of your upcoming reservation but we had no problems remembering as Patois has been on our hit list for quite some time now.  There is an assortment of drinks and cocktails to choose from but I went with the classic Ting to bring me back to the feeling of being away on an island somewhere much hotter than Toronto. As advertised, you can order "The Whole Shebang" for $99.99, which includes the entire menu (half orders of the O.G Fried Chicken and Juicy Jerk Chicken)! I would definitely recommend getting The Whole...

REVIEW | Light Cafe

We find Baldwin Village to be a street in Toronto that is ever growing. You'll never know what to expect in terms of businesses that will pop up! Not to mention it's diverse food culture including gelato, ramen, Italian, Filipino food and so much more. It doesn't surprise us at all that Light Cafe decided to take residence on Baldwin.  I have traveled quite extensively through Asia and can say with confidence that Light Cafe looks exactly like a cafe you would find in Taiwan. Not only is it spacious inside, I love the minimalist decor inside which provides a calming atmosphere. I could see myself sitting at the cafe for hours (within reason haha) and getting some work done.  The first thing that we noticed and I'm sure many of you will as well - is the living wall. I don't think I've ever been to a restaurant where there was a living wall but I've always wanted one of my own. With the natural sunlight coming in with the wall, it's the perfect place to f...
