REVIEW | Wah Sing Seafood Restaurant

Wah Sing Seafood Restaurant is one of those restaurants I went to with my family since I was little and always forget to recommend it to others - it's like a friend that you stop appreciating because they're always there for you (maybe not the best way to describe a restaurant). Recently, we had a dinner with our foodie friends there and the love for the place just grew that much more. Spicy Deep Fried Squid Wah Sing is located on Baldwin Street, just a block or two from the AGO. They're pretty well-known for their 2-1 lobster special at $35.95 - obviously my Korean parents took me there for that deal :) The great thing about any Chinese restaurants is that you order as much variety as you can and just share, family-style with everyone. This way, you get to taste everything. The difference between this and tapas is that the portions are BIG. Check out all the dishes we had, which didn't stop rolling out of the kitchen until we were stuffed! Jumbo Shrimp in Lobster Sauc...

Real Food, Real People and Sobeys #BetterFoodForAll

I recently had an amazing opportunity to visit Stellarton, Nova Scotia to learn more about Sobeys , local foods and what our great country has to offer. An added bonus to the trip was to see a live cooking demo by Jamie Oliver himself. Prior to this event, when I thought of local foods, I thought of local farmer's markets but it's so much more than that. This picture I came across on the internet one day really got me thinking about the way we spend money on our daily produce and what a difference each person can make by spending as little as $100 a year on supporting local businesses. I easily spend $100 on groceries for a week or two. The Sobeys event was all about showcasing food displays which included stations by nine local vendors. It was great to learn that  Sobeys buys more local products than any other grocery retailer in Atlantic Canada.  The best part of the event for me was interacting and conversing with the local vendors to hear their stories and how they have go...

REVIEW | Terra Restaurant

Terra Restaurant  just recently celebrated their 20th anniversary during the month of October. As we all know, the food industry is a cut throat one and for a restaurant to be able to celebrate a 20th anniversary does tell us that they must be doing something right! This was our first visit to Terra and it definitely won't be our last. Bison Carpaccio We went in with high expectations knowing that Terra has held the reputation as being one of the best restaurants in the GTA.  It's not just about the food though, there's so much more that goes into being one of the best restaurants in Toronto including the level of service and ambiance. Immediately upon walking inside, we noticed the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. The interior resembled a sophisticated yet homey upscale restaurant. The service during our entire meal was impeccable. The servers were extremely attentive and were readily available to us at any given time. If the service was any indication of w...

REVIEW | Monica & Clara's 1-day & 3-day juice cleanse with Belmonte Raw

We've all heard the good, the bad and the ugly about juice cleanses. Some people claim that it works wonders and others have said there is no scientific evidence supporting it. We figured we'd try out Belmonte Raw 's   juice cleanse judge for ourselves. For those who don't know, a juice cleanse consists of replacing most if not all of your meals with a cold-pressed juice.  They claim to reset our bodies and allow our organs to rest from having to digest food all the time. Wait! Don't go to your fridge and start drinking your store bought orange juice though. Juice cleanses are about drinking nutrient-dense juices without adding anything else to it. How can a juice cleanse that makes you drink your fruits and veggies be bad? Well, some people point out that the amount of veggies and fruits it takes to get one juice is more than what your body should be consuming in a day and that a lot of the nutrients actually comes from the fibre of the fruits and veggies, which te...
