REVIEW | Boku Sushi

The night Toronto got 20cm of snow was the night I was at dinner for some sushi and sake - so dedicated, right? Located on Gristmill Lane in the Distillery District, Boku serves a variety of Japanese specialties including blow torched sushi, sashimi and omakase.

Inside the restaurant, Boku mixes industrial elements like exposed brick walls and traditional Japanese decor to create a unique atmosphere. It seems like a good spot for dates or a sake tastingsat the bar with a friend or two.

The more memorable menu items from my visit were the Distillery Roll and the Boku Maki, packed with flavourful ingredients. I also really enjoyed the blow torched hand-pressed rolls "aburi." As for the salmon tataki, DIY wagyu beef on the hot stone, and the soba noodle salad, it wasn't anything out of the ordinary.

If vodka, Biergarten or Eastern European food means anything to you then Schnitzel Hub is the place you want to be. The diversity of cuisines has expanded in the St. Clair and Yonge area with Schnitzel Hub's second location. Unlike the Schnitzel Hub's first location in Vaughan, this new spot offers a full bar, many more seatings for groups as well as a private dining area. For vodka lovers, you'll be surprised to see some artisan house-infused vodkas at Schnitzel Hub with crazy flavours like lemon & ginger, candy, smoked bacon and even honey & chili pepper! I suggest you sip these infused vodkas to really taste the flavours. Personally, I enjoyed the lemon & ginger but many others were raving about the horseradish! Now, onto the food offerings. REVIEW | Cafeteria

[Guest Writer: Jonathan L.] For my first food blogging experience, I head over to a pre-opening at Cafeteria by Playa Cabana with Monica from the Food Sisterhood. The newest addition to the Mas Playas group is located on College and Dovercourt, an area with many up-and-coming restaurants. REVIEW | Light Cafe

We find Baldwin Village to be a street in Toronto that is ever growing. You'll never know what to expect in terms of businesses that will pop up! Not to mention it's diverse food culture including gelato, ramen, Italian, Filipino food and so much more. It doesn't surprise us at all that Light Cafe decided to take residence on Baldwin. I have traveled quite extensively through Asia and can say with confidence that Light Cafe looks exactly like a cafe you would find in Taiwan. Not only is it spacious inside, I love the minimalist decor inside which provides a calming atmosphere. I could see myself sitting at the cafe for hours (within reason haha) and getting some work done. The first thing that we noticed and I'm sure many of you will as well - is the living wall.
